Unusually, I have a bottle of Amaretto lying around, mostly to add a bit of spice to White Russians, but tonight I decided to make a Pretty Martini.
The recipe is simple:
- 4 parts Vodka (Stoli)
- 1 part Amaretto
- 1 part Grand Marnier (I used Bauchant Napoleon Liqueur d’Orange instead)
- 1 part Dry Vermouth (I used about half this amount)
The hit parade will be the subject of a different post . . .
I agree that the flavors just didn't blend nicely in the Pretty Martini - drinking it was a hit of cloying amaretto sweetness which only emphasized the sharp alcohol bite that chased it. Not horrible, but definitely not delicious.
ReplyDeleteThe color was fun though - it looked exactly like chilled urine (the one pictured here is a lot darker than ours were). Imagine the possibilities.
